I hear from Kevin that this might be the last Noise Pop. What are your thoughts about that?
Yeah, Kevin has been saying that, but what he hasn't been talking about is his plan to digitally enhance all the Noise Pops and re-release them over the next couple years. He digitally put in some cool stuff that didn't happen, but that he always wanted to happen. Like now he has the Fastbacks headlining Wembley Stadium, the crowd is going crazy... He put in a couple scenes where really big bands are begging him to play, and he took out all the ones where it was the other way around. It's pretty cool what you can do with technology these days. I think people are going to dig it.
What are some of your favorite NoisePop anecdotes?
Well, the funniest thing was when Joe Meice kept coming on to me after the first Noise Pop. I don't know if he was drunk or what, but he kept sticking his tongue in my ear and saying things like, "I could make you really happy, Sharky." My girlfriend was there and she was getting jealous so I told him to cool it. He chilled out, but later on back at the house we had to help him get his thing out of the vacuum cleaner (makes a popping sound with his mouth).
What do you think about Kevin?
He's a money grubbing evil pig. And a good friend. I like him a lot.
How is the money situation with Noise Pop?
Well, you might not have known this, but Kevin was planning on giving most of the cash to the middle slot band on the Sunday matinee show, but we were like, "hey man, that's not right - you gotta give the Archers something!" So we worked it out. We're just going to take a bigger cut of the back end.
The back end is the money from the door, right?
Actually, it's what we get from hustling on the streets. Kevin takes most of that, but this year we're getting a bigger percentage. Like ten or something.
How do you feel about playing Noise Pop this year?
We're happy to be here, and I think we're going to have a really good time. As a band we feel really good, so there's a lot to look forward to.
